Vacation Bible School 2001 Ann Burke

St. Paul was bustling each evening during the week of July 9-13th as boys and girls, and adults took "Good Neighbor Tours" through the Bible.  This year's theme "Way To Go! Good Neighbor Tours" was developed and as students  learned about good neighbors in the Bible and ways they can be good neighbors today.
VBS had six classes for students in Pre-K and Kindergarten through Senior High School.  Each evening participants took a tour to a different Biblical location, learning about a well-known Bible story, and focusing on a neighborly word.
Monday (Jericho Tour)--the story of The Good Samaritan, and the neighborly word was HELP. Tuesday (Bethlehem Tour)--the story of Ruth and Naomi, and the neighborly word was SHARE.  Wednesday (Emmaus Tour)-- the story of The Two Disciples and Jesus, and the neighborly word was INVITE. Thursday (Z-Tour Zarephath)--the story of A Widow and Elijah, and the neighborly word was GIVE. Friday (Gaza Tour)--the story of Philip and The Ethiopian and the neighborly word was TELL.
The Scripture theme for the entire week was Luke 10:27: ... "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself."
VBS evenings were busy and full of varied activities.  Each day the sessions began with devotions and music. The children loved the up-beat rhythmic songs.  Classes followed for all age groups.  An Adult Class was available each evening  also.  Activity time found half the students in Arts and Crafts and the otherhalf in Recreation.  The activities in Arts and Crafts and the recreational games were based on the  theme.
Refreshment time found participants enjoying a delicious meal each evening.  On the closing evening, students presented a program for parents.
Thanks to all the boys and girls, parents and volunteers for a wonderful week!
