Children's Church-- Judy Adams

Children's Church August  26, 2001-- Outside

Children's Church continues to grow and our children are inviting their friends.  We encourage all children to invite your friends and relatives to Children's Church on the 4th Sunday of each month. For the month of August, Children's Church will be held outdoors, weather permitting.  We will end the summer in a spirit-filled and loving atmosphere.  Please come as you are and let's enjoy praising and worshipping our Lord and Savior.
During the June service, we were blessed with an inspired sermon entitled:
"Love Thy Neighbor," delivered by Plathon Watson.  A Vegetable video was shown and the children enjoyed watching the film.  Our Partners in Praise, the youth praise team led the children in song and praise to our Creator.  The praise team is the vision of Sister Sylvia Dorsey, the liturgist for children services.   Of course, we always ask our children to be a part of the service.  Robert Wayne and Zakiya Hutchison read the scriptures very eloquently.  Our church twins:  Joshua and Anusha Bradley were excellent as they prayed the prayer of confession and offered God's words of assurance, respectively.
The  worship experience began in the main sanctuary as the children heard from the youth praise team, Partners in Praise.  From there, the children and Partners in Praise moved to the  chapel and continued to be inspired by the assistance of Carlton Turner playing the tape-recorded music and by Derek Dancey on the piano.  The children liturgical dance team performed the Call to Worship:  Erica West, Zakiya Hutchinson, and Chloe Jackson.  Shaina Thomas, the granddaughter of Viola and Ulysses Wilson, read the scriptures beautifully.  Leading the prayer of confession and giving an inspiring assurance of forgiveness was Marti Jenkins.  Sister Gloria Turner creatively gave a St. Paul 210th anniversary history lesson to the children.  Finally, Brother Plathon Watson discussed:  Whose House?  God's House!  The children were asked to consider acts of reverence versus irreverence in the church.
We look forward to seeing all children and their friends in August to celebrate the closing summer Children's Church on August 26th, the forth Sunday in August.
