On Sunday, September 16, St. Paul South Carolinians, members and guests filled St. Paul's sanctuary. One of the newer members to the church and the S.C. Committee, Sallie Craft, served as the morning liturgist. The music was provided by the Gospel and Men's Choir, and Brother Henry Varner provided the morning prayer. The congregation saw many of the church youth taking part in the morning worship service. Nzinga and Zakiya Hutchinson along with Cari Adams read the scriptures; Cherita Lassiter along with Chantel Sultzer, and Jujuana Chaplin, conducted the Children's Moment; and Shareese C. Anderson introduced the morning speaker. The message for the morning was provided by Reverend Johnnie Washington, a native of Sumter, South Carolina, and head of the Dunkirk Charge (Cooper's & Peter's United Methodist Churches). Reverend Washington provided the congregation with a message on "Are We Merely Gazing." Mrs. Daisy Young presented Maia Hutchinson, daughter of Fred and Gayle Hutchinson, and granddaughter of Anna Benbow, with a gift from the South Carolina Committee to assist her with her college expenses. St. Paul also had a few of its state politicians who hail from South Carolina in attendance. Once again the South Carolina Committee provided St. Paul with an outstanding service and ended the day with a "Taste of South Carolina Cuisine." The state motto is: "While I breathe, I hope!" As the Committee plans for next year's service, it is hoped that next year will be as successful as this year.
