There is an old statement which says -- "Love Is Better the Second Time Around;" now that may or may not be true in a love marriage relationship. It has certainly been true for me as your interim pastor for the "second time." During the past three months, February to May, the members of St. Paul have revealed to me, by your out pouring of love, that--it is--better the second time around and I've enjoyed every minute of it. Indeed, the time I've spent with St. Paul has been an enjoyable and wonderful experience. You have a church overflowing with talent. I must say the highlight for me, during my brief tenure, was the "Warm Nights," activity. It was well coordinated and it was remarkable to see various organizations in the church work together and prepare delicious meals for your homeless guests.
I leave with mixed emotions. I am sorry to see a "love relationship" come to an end. I am glad to know my colleague, your pastor, Reverend Oliver, is well and strong enough to resume her duties. It is my prayer that she will continue to do well physically; also that God will continue to bless all of you spiritually. You are a good church with the strong potential of being a great church.
Reverend Martin McKenney
